About Lille

What to do in Lille
When in Lille go to The Grand Place, it is the heart of the city and a lively urban space surrounded by grand Flemish Renaissance and Baroque buildings with neoclassical facades. The square is the centre of city life in which you will find many cosy cafes and restaurants. In the centre of the square there is a monument symbolising the resistance against the Austrian siege. On the south side of the square is an old 17th-century stock exchange. The stock exchange consists of 24 buildings that surround the Renaissance courtyard.
Visit France’s second most important art museum after the Louvre – The “Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille”. The museum’s collections include masterpieces of European painting. paintings by Rubens, van Dyck, Goya and Delacroix are displayed there.
Walk to The Town Hall, a grand Art Deco building, built between 1924 and 1932. The main feature of the town hall is its tall 104-metre tower, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. You can then drive your luxury rental car to The Citadel of Lille. It is a 17th-century fortification designed by the famous military engineer Vauban. You will be impressed by the sheer scale and size.
