About Maserati
In 1914, four brothers came together to establish a company that would produce “luxury, sports and style cast in exclusive cars”. The name of the company: Maserati.
Maserati’s history is rich and spans over a century. Until 1940, the car brand specialized in making competition-winning racecars. The Second World War forced the Italian car manufacturer to build components that would go towards helping the war effort. After the war, Maserati continued racing until 1957, a year that would change the company’s future. In 1957 a tragic crash occurred during the Mille Miglia in which two pilots as well as spectators were killed. This accident would put an end the event altogether as well as Maserati’s racing division. The same year, the company perfected its first road car with the 3500GT, however there lied a bumpy road ahead. The company has since been bought and sold by the likes of Citroën, De Tommaso, Ferrari and Fiat.
Today Maserati is owned by Alfa Romeo and produces a range of luxury and performance vehicles. These include the GranTourismo, Quattroporte, Ghibli and even an SUV, the Levante. Rent one for a day and discover the passion that makes these vehicles so special. Most recently though, Maserati decided to throw itself back into the supercar market… The new Maserati MC20 is a 600+ horsepower machine that promises thrills like to Maserati before it.
Quick Tips
The Fountain of Neptune is the inspiration for Maserati’s Logo. The statue that adorns the fountain has a trident on the end of its spear that the Maserati brothers adopted as their logo.
Maserati made a car model specially for the Shah of Persia. The shah tasked them with putting a racecar engine into their 3500 GT, turning it into the 5000 GT. Maserati would go on to make 33 examples of the car.
